I went and visited a friend recently who’d just had her third baby- we hadn’t seen each other for almost a year but we picked up, able to be mindful to one another and truly connect. Both people engaged, taking turns talking, in tuned to the other, finding our commonality and finding humor in the absurdity of life, letting go but feeling connected RIGHT NOW. The kind of laughter that picks you up immediately, better than coffee or water or medicine. Pure bliss.
I’ve realized this type of connection is becoming more frequent in my life- I’ve had several interactions recently where I found myself laughing together with another person, truly connected through laughter, bent over holding our stomachs, laughing deeply, silently. Both of us, connected through eye contact, mirroring each other- eyes crinkled and watering, where your stomach aches the next day. Better than ab work! It is so important for me (all of us?) to cultivate the relationships that nurture our souls and to seek out these connections. I realized how thankful I felt and knew I was cultivating more and more of this in my life. Thankful for my tribe of laughing Wellness Warriors!
