Dandelions and Dirty Feet

It’s been almost a week since we took off to southern Colorado. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Colorado since I was a child. This trip, with my daughter and husband was focused on the southern part of the state. We’ve seen everything from Sand Dunes National Park to Mesa Verde and a lot in between. The last few days we’ve been unwinding in the valley of the San Juan Mountains of Telluride. My hygiene has progressively gotten more laxed- it’s been about two days since I showered, more since I shaved my legs. I think I ran a comb through my hair this morning. My daughter had to brush her teeth today but that’s it, her wild curls matted down from under her baseball hat. We’ve seen waterfalls and soaked in hot springs. My skin is dry and ashy and my feet are dusty.  I have a slight sunburn on my shoulders. My mind, however is clear and calm, having faith I will get into my flow when I return to reality. I have been gratefully soaking in every scented pine tree and twinkly Aspen. The air is thinner up here so I’ve been forced to take deep breaths as I watch my daughter pick dandelions and hand them out to strangers.
