Pause, Breathe, Reflect

Whew! This spring and early summer has been a whirlwind in the midwest- literally. So much rain, sometimes coming out of nowhere, complete with hail and fast flooding, and  the biggest tornado I’ve ever been in, in my lifetime. And work. Hustle. New things so it’s not easy yet. But it’s fun. And it feels right, you know? So now I get to slow down a little, travel a little and enjoy summer. Hang out at the pool with my girl. Summer humidity and heat has settled into the midwest, practically forcing a well-timed slow down. So I will oblige. Lounging (not my strong suit), more writing, reading (Jeff Tweedy auto-bio, I’m coming to finish you), napping (my favorite but a rarity). Socializing, a theme of the summer according to my Accupuncturist (have I mentioned her before?).

Summer is my least favorite season. It’s so bright and full of long days. I don’t fantasize about hot beach vacations. My favorite beaches are chilly, overcast and moody. Summer brings out the blues in me at times. However, I am embracing this summer with all it’s oppressive humidity and weird downtime (what’s that?). Knowing before long, I’ll be preparing to gear up for another school year and lusting for fall.
